Ordinary Buildings, 2019
Ordinary Buildings is a study of stucco facades on commercial buildings in Windsor, Ontario.  The facades are an aspirational gesture towards a new beginning for aging structures - though by virtue of their construction with foam and thin stucco veneer they instead signal the desire for something ultimately unattainable.
Often the exteriors are rearranged using forms from classical architecture, such as columns and stepped edges.

Meant to telegraph attributes associated with architectural beauty and monumental power - instead, by virtue of material and construction, the cladding becomes a site of failure and desire. The desire to project value and aesthetic and the ultimate failure of that desire to carry its intended meaning. The structures are anachronistic and atemporal. Ruins before aging.
